How a Charleston SC Wedding Planner can help you – Case of the beach wedding
We were hired by a bride who wanted to have a beach ceremony at Folly Beach South Carolina, but she didn’t want to have to rent a beach house. So how does a bride guarantee ceremony space on a public beach? Hire a Charleston SC wedding planner to go to the beach early and establish space for the ceremony.
Folly Beach requires that couples obtain a beach permit for their ceremony but this does not guarantee space on the beach for that ceremony. We went out about three hours early to establish space. We wanted to be near the beach access so the bride and elderly guests wouldn’t have to walk too far, but of course everyone wants to be there. We brought the 30 beach towels, which were the wedding favors and used those to mark guest spots. The bride opted not have chairs as she wanted a very casual wedding. We also knew it would be challenging to try and have a rental company deliver “On the beach, near the 9th street walkout” even with a Charleston SC wedding planner onsite. They really like to have a specific address to deliver to.
Charleston SC wedding planner poem I wrote for her to give to her guests along with the towels:
Esther and Daniel will wed here today
Although not here yet they have something to say
Please choose a seat in the sand
They’d prefer that you not have to stand
Not too long you’ll have to wait
To begin this ceremony on June 8
They say thanks to you for being here
To share their love and some cheer
When we’re done please take your seat
To brush the dirt and wipe your feet
Keep it as a token of this time
And this silly little rhyme
They hope you’ll use it at the pool
Or any time you need to stay cool
Other Charleston SC wedding planner considerations for this beach wedding
- Parking – there is paid parking right near the entrances to the beaches but it is $7 flat rate so we made sure we packed some cash. The bride very wisely hired a shuttle to bring all her guests to and from the beach so they didn’t have to worry about parking.
- Restrooms – the ninth street walk out does not have any restrooms and the closest public washrooms are about 9 blocks away so we requested that the bride tell her guests in advance.
